Fra Angelico was born (as Guido di Pietro) 1395 in Rupecanina in the Tuscan area of Mugello and died Frebuary 18, They call him “Fra Angelico (or “Angelic Friar” in English) because of his beatification by Pope John Paul II in 1482 in recognition of the holy life he lead. Masaccio was born (as Tommaso di Ser Giovanni do Simone) 1375 and died in the autumn of 1401 at the age of 26. Little is known of his death. He was considered the greatest painter in the Quattrocento (400 th ) Period of the Italian Renaissance. According to Vasari (Another Renaissance artist) it was due to his skill at recreation of human movements and ability to convey a sense of three dimensionality.
