The Nature Conservancy By: Marie Yokan

The Nature Conservancy applies high-level strategies to its conservation work around the world. They work to reduce the accumulation of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere and help natural areas adjust to the impacts of climate change. They work with partners around the world to find lasting solutions that benefit and conserve marine life. The Nature Conservancy has been designing and implementing strategies to protect earth’s fresh waters for decades. They are committed to achieve a global network of well-managed and properly funded protected areas that represent the world’s most important habitats

Accomplishments since 1951 The Nature Conservancy has accomplished much since their founding in 1951. They have protected more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide. They operate more than 100 marine conservation projects globally. They address threats to conser- vation involving climate change, fire, freshwater, forests, invasive species, and marine Ecosystems.

A Popular and Efficient Non-profit Organization It is America's third-largest nonprofit by assets. It is also America's largest environmental nonprofit by assets and by revenue Forbes magazine rated The Nature Conservancy's fundraising efficiency at 88% in its 2005 survey of the largest U.S. charities.
