Putting Philippians to Work 1.What does it mean to be a "living sacrifice" to God? 2.What does it mean to be "transformed by the renewing of your mind"? How can this be accomplished? I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Putting Philippians to Work 3.Why is daily systematic reading of the Bible a must if you want joy and victory in your Christian life? 4.How can beginning the day with prayer prepare us for a joy-filled day in the Lord? 5.How will asking God to give you a submissive mind help you in your contacts with people each day? All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17 Examples of a submissive mind Jesus Phil 2:1-11 Paul Phil 2:12-18 Timothy Phil 2:19-24 Epaproditius Phil 2:25-30

Five Reasons to Read the Bible Daily 3.Why is daily systematic reading of the Bible a must if you want joy and victory in your Christian life? The Word of God is infallible (Proverbs 30:5-6) The Word of God is complete (Rev 22:18-19) The Word of God is totally authoritative (Psalms 119:89) The Word of God is totally sufficient for all our needs (2 Tim 3:16-17) The Word of God will accomplish what it promises (Isaiah 55:11) biblestudytools.com, Raul Ries

Putting Philippians to Work 6.How will being single-minded each day prepare us for difficult experiences we may have to face? 7.Why should we stop and take inventory of our state of mind and heart if we begin to lose our peace or joy during the day? 8.How can 1 John 1:9 help us maintain our joy throughout the day? Fellowship - 1:1-11 Furtherance – 1:12-26 Faith - 1:27-30 Of the Gospel For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain Phil 3:8 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ Phil 1:21

Putting Philippians to Work 9What should we do if we find wrong or impure thought creeping into our minds? 10 What have you learned from this study of Philippians that you feel will make a real difference in your Christian life? For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. Matt 15:19 ….whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, Phil 4:8 Eph 1:7

Putting Philippians to Work 1.Surrender your mind to the Lord at the beginning of each day. 2.Let the Holy Spirit renew your mind through the Word. 3.As you pray, ask God to give you that day a single mind, a submissive mind, a secure mind. 4.During the day, “mind your mind. 5.Guard the gates of your mind. 6.Remember that your joy is not meant to be a selfish thing; it is God’s way of glorifying Christ and helping others through you. Be Joyful, Chapter 13, Warren Wiersbe
