Cell Organelles Re-take Quiz Review

Cell Membrane  The phospholipid bilayer that surrounds the cell and allows things to enter or leave

Cell Wall  The structure made of cellulose fiber that protects and supports the shape of the plant cell

Cytoplasm  The semi-fluid material that surrounds all of the cell organelles.

Nucleus  Controls all of the activities of the cell; considered the “control center”

Nucleolus  The dark center in the middle of the nucleus that makes ribosomes.

Chromatin  The genetic material made of DNA and protein found in the nucleus. DNA protein

Nuclear Envelope  The double membrane that surrounds the nucleus

Endoplasmic Reticulum  The network of membranes that transports things around the cell

Golgi Complex  Flattened membrane sacs that package proteins and other substances and ships them to other parts of the cell.

Lysosome  Contains digestive enzymes to get rid of unwanted things in the cell aw- hill.com/sites/ /student_view0/ch apter2/animation__lys osomes.html

Mitochondria  Produces energy for the cell through the process of cellular respiration

Ribosomes  Small organelles that make proteins by linking together amino acids

Vacuole  A membrane sac that stores water, food, and waste.

Chloroplast  Produces food in the form of glucose for plant cells through the process of photosynthesis
