SEAOHUN (South East Asia One Health University Network) was formally established in December 2011

Vision and Mission Vision VOHUN fostering sustainable trans-disciplinary capacity building to respond to emerging and re- emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases Mission To leverage the training, education, and research capacities of the university network to build the skills, knowledge and attitude base for One Health leaders

7 The main objective of VOHUN is to develop the One Health approach through training activities and research in the universities and to build a generation of new lecturers and researchers having a full range of knowledge and skills in practicing "One Health"

The way forward (1) Communication – Develop and maintain the VOHUN website; OH newsletter in both Vietnamese and English. – Coordinate with ministries & institutions to ensure an awareness of VOHUN and to advocate for OH training and research. University-Government Partnerships Universities are uniquely positioned to develop and provide an appropriately qualified workforce for governments, and to offer training opportunities for in-service capacity building Once the curriculum mapping and course development activities have been completed, innovative programs will be designed in collaboration with government agencies to meet current and future needs for training OH professionals The aim is to assist governments to transform the current and future workforces and to build sustainable capacity to respond to future outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases

Key areas where Universities support Governments Universities are human resource providers, governments are end-users of university undergraduate programs In-service training – Masters degree programs, short courses and workshops are relevant for government staff Qualified University staff often sit on government technical committees and working groups and assist with policy development Universities provide research resources for government programs on priority emerging infectious diseases
