The Blessed Trinity-Communion of Persons

Vocabulary incarnate creed mystery of faith person human person consubstantial

Concepts to Learn What is the Most Blessed Trinity? Who are the members of the Blessed Trinity? What is a communion of persons?

Nicene Creed We say we believe in God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit We believe that there are THREE Persons in God This is the Most Blessed Trinity (the mystery of the three Persons in God)

Blessed Trinity What does “tri” mean? How are there three beings in God? Who are they?

How is this possible? As Catholics, we do not really know, but that’s OKAY. There are SO many things in the universe that are so complex and we simply don’t understand them.

Blessed Trinity Today we are using a cup of flour, salt, and water to understand the trinity. But FIRST, let’s refresh our memories on Bible verses

How to Find a Scripture Verse Find the book in the bible Find the chapter Find the exact verse Example: John 3:16 Book of John Chapter 3 Verse 16

Find… Matthew 5:13 John 3:5

Bible Verses Matthew 5:13 Jesus told us, “You are the salt of the earth” meaning we Christians “flavor” the earth by sharing gods word Jesus=the salt

Bible Verses John 3:5 Jesus says, “no one can enter the kingdom of god without being born of water and spirit.” Water= holy spirit

Blessed Trinity Examples Triangle Clover Leaf Apple There are three parts to each one just like the Blessed Trinity. Who is the first Person? The second Person? The third Person?

Communion of Persons A way to describe the three Persons in one God A communion of persons is a loving union of two or more persons Each Divine Person gives Himself totally to the other two and they love each other perfectly? What are some forms of communions of persons that we form as Catholics?

Answer The communion of persons established in a marriage The communion of persons when children are brought in to the world The communion of persons in the workplace where teachers and students work to achieve a good learning environment for all The communion of persons in the church through the sacraments-> baptism brings us in to the family of God.

Review What do we say about God in the Creed? What are some of the other mysteries of our Faith recited in the Creed? How can we explain that in one God there are three Persons? What communions of persons are we members of? What makes us members of these communions? Sometimes we choose not to be good members of these communions of persons. How? What will help us to be good members of a communion of persons? What Person of the Blessed Trinity came to show us the best way to live as members of communions of Persons?
