DREAMWEAVER Adding photos and other tips!

Making photo gallery  Gather ALL the photos you need into your images folder. (remember to copy the URL so you can add to your bibliography!)  Open Fireworks and create thumbnails for each image.  To do this, go to Modify, Canvas, Image Size and change the height. A good size for a thumbnail is pixels.  Make sure you choose SAVE AS, so you don’t overwrite the large image, save them in your images folder, with a name that indicates it is the thumbnail.  Open a new HTML document, edit the title and then SAVE IT to your web folder.

Making photo gallery – Adding Images  Click on the Image Icon, or go to Insert -> Image to add an image.  Select the thumbnail image, add alt text (if desired) and click ok.  To make the thumbnail link to the larger image, make sure you have the thumbnail selected and then click on the Link Icon, or go to Insert -> Hyperlink.  Browse to your images folder and choose the large image.  Use the properties panel at the bottom to add the link to the larger image and to adjust anything about the images.

Tips, tricks and reminders.  The Properties panel at the bottom of the Dreamweaver is your ticket to changing pretty much EVERYTHING you want about your webpage.  Page Properties: background color, image, text and link color  Text alignment, size, color, font size  Image size, link, alignment  Links to other pages, images, sites  You can preview the page in IE (click on globe icon at the top of the window)

 You can use tables to help organize and make your information look less like a list.  Go to Insert -> Table and choose the options you want.  PLAY AROUND! If you don’t like it, you can always change it. Don’t be afraid to click on different icons and see what they do.  USE THE HELP MENU! If you want to know how to do something, look there, it may just tell you. Tips, tricks and reminders.
