Embargo Act The Embargo Act of 1807 and the subsequent Nonintercourse Acts were American laws restricting American ships from engaging in foreign trade between the years of 1807 and They led to the War of 1812 between the U.S. and Britain.

Federalist The Federalist party was the first American political party, from the early 1790s to 1816, the era of the First Party System, with remnants lasting into the 1820s. The Federalists controlled the federal government until The party was formed by Alexander Hamilton.

The Great Awakening The First Great Awakening began in 1734 and lasted to about Ministers from various evangelical Protestant denominations supported the Great Awakening.Additionally, pastoral styles began to change. In the late colonial period, most pastors read their sermons, which were theologically dense and advanced a particular theological argument or interpretation.

House of Burgesses The House of Burgesses was the first assembly of elected representatives of English colonists in North America.
