Presentation transcript:

(8) Geography. The student uses geographic tools to collect, analyze, and interpret data. The student is expected to: (A) create thematic maps, graphs, charts, models, and databases representing various aspects of the United States; and (B) pose and answer questions about geographic distributions and patterns shown on maps, graphs, charts, models, and databases.

How are we going to end this presentation? At the end of this presentation we will be requesting you to ask us questions concerning maps, graphs, charts, models, and databases THAT HAS TO DO WITH OUR POWERPOINT.

Thematic maps are data maps of a specific subject or for a specific purpose. Statistical thematic maps include a variety of different map types such as: shaded maps, dot maps, proportional symbol maps, and isarithmic maps. Special purpose maps generally concentrate on a single theme, such as the Population. y=11

In statistical graphics, all of the modern forms of data display were invented: bar and pie charts, histograms, line graphs and time- series plots, contour plots, and so forth. In thematic cartography, mapping progressed from single maps to comprehensive atlases, depicting data on a wide variety of topics (economic, social, moral, medical, physical, etc.), And introduced a wide range of novel forms of symbolism.

Time Zone Chart The time zone chart was originally devised so that any mariner, in any part of the world, could relate their local time to standard Greenwich mean time. The latest edition of chart 5006 was published for the millennium, with the international date line shown as a central part of the chart.

Thematic models are things you can record database on like Graphs Maps Charts
