Community Phlebotomy Update The intention is to replace the current GP enhanced service arrangements with a new phlebotomy service which aims to: Provide an equitable service to all GP patients – patient can access other clinics if their GP doesn’t provide Provide a mix of appointment and walk-in services Improve access by providing more patient choice and some early morning access Ensure high quality service with well trained staff providing phlebotomy
Phlebotomy - Next steps A recent market testing advert established that the local GP Confederation is the only interested provider for the new specification Subject to Contracts Committee approval the CCG will commence negotiations with the GP Confederation for a contract to provide phlebotomy to the new specification in 15/16 It is proposed the current arrangements will be extended by 3-5 months for contract negotiation and mobilisation
Wound Care - Status Update 1. Dressings Optimisation Scheme – Oct implementation stage; launch April Lymphoedema Service – Oct Adult Community Nursing – 2015/16 Service Specification to be reviewed with Integrated Care (Leg Ulcers) 4. Post-Operative Wound Care – NEW
Post-Operative Wound Care The service is for the removal of sutures and general wound care following a hospital procedure where: The operation was performed as a consequence of a referral to, or on-going care by hospital services It is either inconvenient for or undesirable for the patient to attend at hospital. This would include follow-up of patients from A&E or PUCC.

Criteria Acceptance criteria: Registered with a City and Hackney GP Identified wound requiring active intervention Referrals via the hospital, PUCC or GP Surgery Exclusion criteria: Complex wounds where the hospital is treating as outpatient Com plex care; vasculitic, sickle, Housebound patients Lymphoedema Leg Ulcers Episodes of wound care: expected duration < 2 weeks resulting from minor surgery in general practice
Location and Hours At least 1 site across each of the 4 quadrants Available 7 days/week; some extended hours Provide a mix of appointment and walk-in services
Finances The contract is a cost per case arrangement and providers will receive: £12 per appointment (Monday – Friday) £20 per appointment (Saturday-Sunday) Project Management & Set up - TBC
