Vegsource.com Consonance: The degree of fit between the Vegsource website and our websites objectives are suited. The Vegsource website provides different sources and links for people to participate. They can join in discussion forums and “ shoot the breeze” with others. Here one can ask questions to “veg” experts, trade recipes, and so on. There is also a section called food where it guides you in finding healthy vegetarian sources in main stream markets, for example 7-Eleven. Relevance: This website demonstrates relevance for it’s variety of links and pages geared toward the client. Most of the links are current and provide information on aging, the politics of food, even why food costs what it does. Furthermore, Vegsource goes into how to improve one’s lifestyle through activities for all ages and provides an online store. Another reason this website relates to ours is links they provide such as this: “Green and orange vegetable consumption - an indicator of longevity”Green and orange vegetable consumption - an indicator of longevity

Individualization: The opportunity for clients to have their questions answered and needs met on the Vegsource website is through its discussion section. In correspondence with our website clients can use this section to participate in discussion forums, find new recipes, read on about how to be vegan as an elder, find answers on whether certain foods are healthier than others, and there is even a humor. This portion of the website is also useful in discussing common allergens. For example, those that need to omit dairy from their diet can go to the discussion section and see what others have found to compensate in recipes and dairy-free foods. Feedback: The Vegsource website does not provide a means to measure a clients progress.

Reinforcement: The reinforcement designed to reward behavior on the Vegsource website is the idea of community. Here one can join the website and participate in the discussions, view and contrast what is going on currently in the world in regards to health matters and aspects of vegetarianism. The website offers such a variety of information that you can find what interests you and later participating in a relating group forum will be a rewarding sense of self and accomplishment toward your health and know-how. Facilitation: The facilitation demonstrated in Vegsource is “don’t stress it”. This website provides a plethora of information and ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables in your diet. One can ask questions of experts in the field of nutrition about any concerns, they can read articles regarding their age, ethnicity, and health status. Another aspect I found useful was the videos. The videos provide another means to understanding vegan/vegetarianism. They also follow up with how adding fruits and vegetables to the diet can aid against diseases and other health concerns

Relevance: Relevance is the degree to which intervention is geared to the client. The website vegetarian times shows relevance because it is related to the website that we created based on how to have fun with vegetarianism. They provide many links including recipes, newsletters, provides a vegetarian starter kit, give opportunities for one to ask question to experts on vegetarians, and give insight on why one should consider being a vegetarian. Consonance: Consonance is the degree of fit between a program and its objectives. The website vegetarian times shows consonance because it fits in perfect with the objective of our website. The object of this website as well as our website is to try to improve the knowledge of the people on why being a vegetarian or substitution of vegetarian meals can be beneficial to one’s health. All the links provided on this website coincides with the goals and objectives that are trying to be taught and accomplished.

Reinforcement: Reinforcement is designed to reward behavior. This website demonstrated reinforcement because just by becoming a member and taking that step into wanting to know more about be a vegetarian there are a number of free gifts including recipes, newsletters, and magazines. Facilitation: Facilitation are the measures that are taken to eliminate obstacles. This website demonstrated facilitation because it demonstrated ways in which one can transition into vegetarianism without having a hard time by stating steps in which one can have an easy transition into become a vegetarian. It tries to eliminate obstacles and difficulties when trying something new. Feedback: This website did not demonstrate the nutrition principle of feedback.

Consonance: (degree of fit), our seniors usually have poor appetites, don't keep much food (fresh fruits and veggies are a problem), or don't have a convenient way of getting to said food, and the making and clean-up of smoothies are minimal. Smoothies consist of ingredients that have long expiration dates (due to use of frozen or canned sources) so spoilage isn't an issue, blenders are easy to clean, and if our seniors are thirsty they can have a smoothie to quench both thirst and hunger. Relevance: the objectives of our program are to reduce obesity and address the nutritional deficiencies of our young old group. Smoothies are a functional food that can be made to be low in calories and high in nutrients due to fruit content and low fat and sodium content. The websites linked on this page provide clients with additional recipes to further their goals of weight loss and health.
