Climate Agreements What is a Climate Agreement? Public bodies, business and other organisations sign up to a voluntary agreement to reduce their emissions What are the benefits for industry? Can market their business as County of Uppsala Climate Stakeholder, this may give them a market benefit The business will be promoted as a Climate Stakeholder both in newspapers and on websites Industry will have to reduce their emissions, more favourable for them to go down a voluntary emission reduction route rather than a compulsory one.

Some project impact Climate Strategies Uppsala municipalities are setting environmental and travel programmes to encourage emission reduction Niepolomice Municipality is developing a Climate Strategy based on information from Uppsalas Climate Strategy

Some project impact Climate and Energy Strategies Climate Strategy Manual designed in the form of an Eco – calendar Distributed to all households in Niepołomice Advice and tips for how to be energy efficient, reduce emission of carbon dioxide and save a money at this same time.

Some project impact The Action Plan for Sustainable Energy for Niepolomice Municipality – document completed in 2010 (Covenant of Mayor). Included best practice advice from the Climate Strategies developed through the SEECA project

Some project impact Climate Agreements Tallinn and Niepolomice have both carried out discussions with potential signatories (e.g. Niepolomice in discussion with MAN Trucks regarding climate agreement) Discussions are ongoing in Tallinn and Niepolomice over how to create a national version of the Climate Agreement website and also how to make Climate Agreements work at a local level

Some project impact Heavy Machinery Uppsala Eco-driving research project results: o new and larger project being developed as a result of the heavy machinery study to look at integrating eco-driving in planning system o proposal to integrate eco driving conditions into municipality procurement process e.g. specify fuel use in bid o propose to establish demonstration farm look at energy saving techniques

Some project impact Niepolomice Translation of the eco-driving research results from Swedish into Polish, dissemination of information January 2011 Initial discussion with the companies that organise eco–driving training Tallinn Tallinn will translate and utilise research findings from Uppsala. Conduct their own study which will consider local issues Recommendations from both studies will be used to develop and improve Tallinn Citys current Development Plan Promotion of usage of gaseous fuels in heavy machinery
