Scotland Weather and Climate of Scotland This choropleth map uses colour to show the differences in rainfall across Scotland. Geography Weather

National 5 Weather What does this map show?

National 5 Weather Precipitation is the term given to moisture that falls from the air to the ground. Precipitation can be snow, hail, sleet, drizzle, fog, mist and rain. The water cycle drives the water from the oceans/seas on-shore where it falls as precipitation and then flows via rivers back in to the sea.water cycle

Scotland Weather and Climate of Scotland 1. Relief Upland areas receive more rain than lowland areas. Geography Weather

Scotland Weather and Climate of Scotland Now add the following labels onto your diagram: Geography Weather - Warm wet air is forced to rise over high land. - As the air rises it cools and condenses. Clouds form and precipitation occurs. - The drier air descends and heats up. - Any moisture in the air (e.g. cloud) evaporates.

2. Distance from the Sea and Aspect West coast of UK is closest to the Atlantic sea. In UK the main wind direction is from the WEST. So the closer you are to the sea and closer you are to the moist winds. The EAST is drier as the winds move eastwards they drop their water. Geography Weather
