Prayer and God's Hand Pinata or Ceiling?

"When we pray, believing that we have already received what we are praying, God has no choice but to make our prayers come to pass" - Rev. Dollar

"God has established things so that prayer, on the basis of redemption, changes the way a person looks at things…

…Prayer is not a matter of changing things externally, but one of working miracles in a person’s inner nature" - Oswald Chambers

Does prayer move The hand of God?

Let's be honest

No guilt But prayer is definitely an Invitation from Jesus

Is God the pinata? Hit him just right with prayer And he delivers every time?

Or… Does prayer accomplish nothing Except to make us feel good And change us as we pray?

Because prayer is connection to And communication with God Prayer can do whatever God can do

In all things, God cares more About your heart and your Relationship with him Than the things you receive From him

Creflo is right!

Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it - Jesus, John 14

Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you…

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full - Jesus, John 16:23-24

If you then…give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! - Matthew 7:11

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours - Mark 11:24

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” - Matt. 21:22

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you - John 15:7

Seems pretty clear: Ask in faith God will give it Whatever it is

"Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt…if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' it will happen" - Matthew 21:21

Why didn't you get That thing you prayed for And really believed God would give you?

Maybe you need to "Sow your seed of faith Into this ministry for the Anointing to be released Into your life!"

Maybe you need to "Sow your seed of faith Into this ministry for the Anointing to be released Into your life!" - Yeah…No!

Was the Apostle Paul A man of faith?

Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me… What's he praying for?

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” - 2 Cor. 12:8-9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” - 2 Cor. 12:8-9 No! You're gonna stay weak…

You can have whatever You want if you ask and believe Except…God said, "No"

Is Chambers right? The real function of prayer Is just to change us? (And that's all)

Quarrels and fighting…? Desire and Coveting You do not have, because you do not ask

You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions - James 4:2-3

Wrong motives:...to spend it on your passions Passions= hédoné- pleasure as an end in and of itself Selfish and self-centered

So James says, "You don't have because you don't ask…"

And then adds, "Check your motives… If it's selfish and self-centered pleasure-seeking outside God's will, then…no"

We just found the first proviso To answered prayer God says, "I want you to ask rather than seek it outside Me. But ask for the right reasons…"

Because I care more about Your heart and your Relationship with me Than I do the things you receive From me"

That just changed everything!

Because prayer is Communication with God Prayer can do whatever God can do

In all things, God cares more About your heart and your Relationship with him Than the things you receive From him

Youth Pastor Brian At your service!

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full - Jesus, John 16:23-24

If you then…give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! - Matthew 7:11

If you then…know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” - Luke 11:13

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying…

…forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses” - Mark 11:24-25

Believe In his name Forgive

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” - Matt. 21:22

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you - John 15:7

"Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt…if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen" - Matthew 21:21

Why aren't mountains moving… Literally?

Because Jesus is using hyperbole To make a point

I could eat a horse You look radiant It's burning up out there!

"Faith is not believing God can Faith is knowing he will…?" Faith is trusting God can and will If it's his will and his best For us

It's more about the relationship With the giver Than the gift at the moment

Because prayer is connection to And communication with God Prayer can do whatever God can do

In all things, God cares more About your heart and your Relationship with him Than the things you receive From him

God invites you to pray And says that prayer Moves his hand If you have faith

Daniel

And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. And he said to me…

“O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you”

And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling…

Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God…

…your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words

The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me… Daniel 10:10-13

Daniel's prayer Sent angels into flight

Last week… Israel cried out God sent a preacher first Because they needed truth Before he answered their prayer

And then he raised up A deliverer named Gideon In response to their prayers

So it's not just internal And prayer changes nothing Prayer changes circumstances It…moves the hand of God And sets angels into motion

And yes…it changes us

Jesus invites you to pray In his Name Change us: gives great freedom From needing outside his will You get…contentment

When you ask, believe And receive You understand his supply And are grateful Your joy is full- glorifies God

Sin is seeking in other places What God alone provides And it never works out Long-term

Am I praying? Will I? What could I pray for, believing, This week that I know is his will For my life?

Will I pray for Layman That God will Increase our outreach For his glory and their Salvation and restoration?
