THE CALL TO WORSHIP [Pastor / CONGREGATION ] (John 1:1 & 1 John 1:1 + prolog) In the beginning was the Word, AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD And the Word was God! HE WAS WITH GOD FROM THE BEGINNING.

That which was from the beginning, WHICH WE HAVE HEARD, which we have seen with our eyes, WHICH WE HAVE LOOKED AT and which our hands have touched, THIS WE PROCLAIM concerning the Word of Life WHO IS JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

**THE OPENING HYMN #548 ‘HIGHER GROUND’ [ All who are able please stand ]

(1) I’m pressing on the upward way, New heights I’m gaining every day; Still praying as I’m onward bound, Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven’s tableland, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

(2) My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where those abound, My prayer, my aim, is higher ground. Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven’s tableland, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

(3) I want to live above the world, Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground. Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven’s tableland, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

(4) I want to scale the utmost height And catch a gleam of glory bright; But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found, Lord, lead me on to higher ground. Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven’s tableland, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON: John 3:16 (The words of Jesus) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have everlasting life.

THE SONG OF RESPONSE #548 As the deer panteth for the water So my soul longs after You. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship You. You alone are my strength and shield; To you alone may my spirit yield. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship You.

You’re my friend and You are my brother, So much more that anything. I love You more than any other, So much more than any thing. You alone are my strength and shield; To you alone may my spirit yield. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship You.

I want You more than gold or silver, Only You can satisfy. You alone are my real joy giver, And the apple of my eye. You alone are my strength and shield; To you alone may my spirit yield. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship You.

A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

Luke 5:1-11 Read by Elder Ken Russell Once while Jesus was standing beside the Lake of Gennesaret, [Also called the Sea of Galillee and; the Sea of Tiberius], the crowd was pressing in on Him to hear the word of God. Then Jesus noticed two boats there at the shore of the lake; The fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. So Jesus got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked Simon to push out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch of fish.” “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet, if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that the boats began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be winning people.” When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed Him.

THE SONG OF PREPARATION #633 ‘OPEN OUR EYES, LORD, WE WANT TO SEE JESUS’

Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus, To reach out and touch Him, And say that we love Him; Open our ears, Lord, And help us to listen; Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus. (PLEASE REPEAT)
