Unit 6 Scenario Question 2 You are the HR Director and your organization has a large focus on workplace safety, and is interested in going above and beyond in order to become an OSHA partner. List and explain the OSHA partnerships and cooperative programs your organization can be a part of. OSHA Challenge: assistance in improving safety & health management systems Alliances: coopertive working relationship between company and OSHA to set short- and long-term goals regarding training, education, and communication of safety practices OSHA Strategic Partnership Programs: long-term agreements between OSHA and groups of employers to improve safety for entire industries Voluntary Protection Programs: companies demonstrating excellence with regards to worker health and safety can request this recognition, both management and employees agree to operate an effective safety program; removes company from scheduled inspection list Safety and Health Recognition Programs: once in the VPP, OSHA awards companies with exemplary safety and health programs according to three levels; companies are exempt from inspection with a valid SHARP certification

Develop a brief Employee Wellness Program that includes a touch on all parts and follows Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act requirements. Identify medical conditions; encourage healthy lifestyles; help employees & their dependents to cope with life problems; include: disease management, EAP, fitness, health risk appraisal, onsite medical programs, personal wellness profile, screenings, smoking cessation, telephone services, weight management, wellness education, work/life balance; incentives; PPACA requirements: total rewards do not exceed 30% of cost of coverage, reasonably designed to promote health and prevent disease, give all individuals ability to qualify yearly, rewards available to all employees (alternative for those unable to satisfy because of medical reason), disclose all terms
