LAPL(A) Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (for A, H, S, B) Pre-requisites (Aeroplane): –17 years –LAPL medical certificate (issued by AeMC, AME or GMP!) –Theoretical and practical training –Skill test Privileges: –Non-commercial, without remuneration –As PIC (!) –SEP or TMG with MTOM < 2000 kg, max 3 PAX, max 4 Persons on board 10

LAPL(A) Training in an ATO –Theory, gen.: Air Law, Human performance, Meteorology, Communications –Theory for the a/c cat: Principles of Flight, Ops. proc., Performance and Planning, A/C general knowledge, Navigation –30 hours flight instruction 15 hours dual instruction 6 hours supervised solo flight time 150 km solo cross-country flight with 1 landing at a different aerodrome –LAPL skill test –Carriage of passengers requires 10 hours as PIC after issuance of the licence 11

LAPL(A) Recent Experience within 24 months –12 hours as PIC –12 take-offs and landings –1 hour flight time of refresher training with an instructor Renewal –Proficiency check with examiner, OR –Fly additional time dual or solo under supervision of an instructor to fulfil recency requirements 12

IR(A) New NPA : Enroute-IR (?) Requirement for ATO-training for CAT II/III (?) Basic Instrument Training Module –first 10 hours of IR-course –course completion certificate, interchangeable with CPL Renewal requires training in an ATO 13

CLASS AND TYPE RATINGS Single-engine: Theory exam verbally by examiner Seaplanes –8 hours training (add-on to land-verison) –10 hours training otherwise Revalidation: Route sector may be included in LPC Renewal requires training in an ATO („when necessary to reach level of proficiency...“) LPC / Skill test: „The examiner may choose between different [...] scenarios [...] developed and approved by the competent authority.“ - ? 14

CLASS AND TYPE RATINGS Single-pilot high performance complex aeroplanes –200 hours total time, 70 hours as PIC –HPA-requirements –fulfil requirements for multi-engine IR(A) –if „seeking the privilege to operate the aeroplane in multi-pilot operations“: MCC course (training pre-requisite!) –Skill test / LPC: „When a skill test or proficiency check is performed in multi-pilot operations, the type rating shall be restricted to multi-pilot operations“ 15

ADDITIONAL RATINGS Aerobatic rating –40 hours after licence –ATO course theory + 5 hours / 20 flights Sailplane / Banner towing –30 h / 60 flights after licence (100 h / 200 flights for banner) –ATO course theory + 10 instruction flights + 5 familiarisation flights in sailplane for sailplane towing Night rating: additional + theory Mountain rating –special surfaces, on wheels or skis –ATO course, skill test, 24 months validity Flight test rating 16

INSTRUCTORS Roles: FI, TRI, CRI, IRI, SFI, MCCI, STI, MI, FTI Skill test is now „Assessment of competence“, also for TRI, SFI Refresher courses also for TRI, SFI, CRI, STI Single-pilot high performance complex aeroplanes: –TRI(SPA) –for multi-pilot operations additionally TRI(MPA) or MCCI FI for –single-pilot single-engine ratings „except for single-pilot high performance complex aeroplanes“ –multi-engine single-pilot class or type ratings except... CRI instructs for non-complex, non-high performance single pilot aeroplanes in single-pilot operations 17
