Curt A. Simon Executive Director Metro Area Transit Omaha, Nebraska

We’re all in this together. Urban transit operator's can offer a host of information to their rural counterparts. This is most often due to additional financial and human resources that may not be available to rural systems. In turn, Urban operator’s can benefit in a number of ways that enhance transit in their communities and statewide.

Policies and Procedures Why recreate the wheel ??? Urban Properties typically have detailed policy and procedure manuals that address virtually all areas of transit operations. These conform to Federal, State and Local laws and norms and can be a great resource for rural properties.

 Equal Employment Opportunity  Disadvantaged Business Enterprise  Recruitment  Physical Fitness Standards  Drug & Alcohol  Sick Leave & Leave of Absence  Termination for Cause  Family Medical Leave  Sexual Harassment & Harassment

Procurements Urban Operator’s have short and long term procurement plans that may include items of interest to rural systems. A Grant Administrator typically oversees such purchases. Rural systems can benefit by being included in purchases, particularly if a need arises that can not be met by their State DOT.

 Vehicles  Computers and Software  Fareboxes and Fare Medium  Vehicle parts & maintenance  FTA Compliance Regulations  Construction contracts & Grant compliance  Purchasing Procedures & Policies  Available Grant Opportunities
