Current Situation PORTUGAL

TROIKA All the measures taken on behalf of the memorandum, are in the first place... IDEOLOGICAL! The Memorandum signed with international "Troika" (IMF - ECB - EC) and the Right-wing policies of the National "Troika" (PSD - CDS - PS) has caused to the Portuguese people many social and labor setbacks.

TROIKA - Offensive We have witnessed a violent offensive against:  Workers’ Rights ;  Democratic Regime;  Social Security;  Salaries And Pensions;  Health System;  Education System...  Public Services;

TROIKA - Austerity Immediate results of the austerity measures: The "assistance" programs of troika have led the country to a situation of national disaster.  Increase of The Public Debt;  Closure of Companies;  Unemployment’s Increase ;  General population’s Impoverishment...

ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND LABOR DISASTER

DISASTERS The Austerity measures and the Neoliberal Policies have 3 main objectives:  Destroy Public Services;  Destroy the Social Security System;  Destroy the Collective Bargaining.

PUBLIC DEBT In 2009 (the preceding year of the implementation of austerity programs) the public debt was 83% of GDP. In 2013, is at 127% (March). (Year) Source: Eurostat and Government

PUBLIC DEBT Consequences of the Recessive Policy (applied during the Economic recession ) between 2010 and 2012: The Public Debt Increased more than 43,499 million euros ( +30% ). In 2014, it should reach 215,213 Million euros, which corresponds to 123,7% of GDP.

AUSTERITY - LABOR LAW AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

LABOR LAWS AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING The austerity policies (imposed and used by the government) has strongly contributed to increase of workers’ exploration. Exploration which climax is shown by the amendments to the Labour Law and the Laws of Social Protection. Examples:  Reduction of Payment for Extra Working Time;  Elimination of Compensatory Rest.

LABOR LAWS AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING  Value of Compensation for Dismissal;  Elimination of 4 Bank Holidays...  Elimination of 3 Holidays;  Hours Bank (Individual and Group);  Dismissal By Inadaptation;  Amendment of Lay-Off;

SOCIAL PROTECTION LAWS  Rules to Access to Unemployment Allowance;  Rates of Health Care Services...  Reduction of Time and Value of Unemployment Allowance;  Calculation Formulas to Receive Social Help;

AUSTERITY - WORKING CONDITIONS

WORKING CONDITIONS With the sudden increase of unemployment, due to austerity measures, the workers feel pressured and are subject to poor working conditions.  Increase of Working Time;  Flexibility of Working Time (imposed);  Stress;  Moral Harassment...  High Rhythms of Work;  Poor Safety and Health Conditions ;

IMMEDIATE MEASURES

FIEQUIMETAL and CGTP-IN consider as priority measure, the revival (increase) of domestic demand, through the increase of income:  Wages;  Pensions and Reform;  Social Benefits.
