Agriculture Wheat and Corn leading crops Rye, hemp, and flax also major crops. Livestock was another major money maker. Tobacco Farm home in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Industry Arts and Crafts and Home manufactures, grew rapid. Sawmills and gristmills first appeared among various streams, ran by hydroelectricity. Gun and papermaking industries were major Factories using hydroelectricity.
Important People. William Penn- Founder of the Colony of Pennsylvania. Benjamin Franklin- Founded The Academy and College of Philadelphia, and The University of Pennsylvania. Thomas Paine- wrote Common Sense, and first to publicly champion the phrase “The United states of America”.
Important People. Arthur St. Clair- served as a President under the Articles of Confederation.
