CSR Challenges in Denmark Denmark characterised by strong and detailed environmental laws, health and safety laws, etc. Strong enforcement We have today a large number of companies that use high CSR standards in hard competition  Best cases Difficult to be perfect – it is a journey and every day challenge

George Jensen a/s Manufacturer of high end jewellery and watches Established in 1904 Well known and branded e.g. as royal supplier of jewellery Turnover in 2011: 914 M DKK 1200 employees Production in Denmark and Thailand – and buy from other suppliers

George Jensen a/s GC member since 2009 – detailed CSR strategy and reporting Illegal in 2007 to produce or import jewellery with lead as part of chemical substances Produce the famous marguerite jewellery – the favourite jewellery of the Queen. Contain lead and became illegal. First reaction after 9 months after prohibited Apply for exemption directly at Minister of Environment with reference to the value of a ‘national jewellery’

George Jensen a/s Since 2008 George Jensen has received exemption every year – until they are out of stock. Still an unsolved problem with decorations. Also good companies faces dilemmas We are not perfect
