Update on CSO Consultation (Cont) Partnership Arrangement  It needs a policy and regulatory environment that will enable civil society to fulfill its potentials as a development partner  Gov’t and CSOs as the strategic partners to promote the electoral reforms  Gov’t, CSOs and Private sector as strategic partners to promote CSR  CSOs to promote law enforcement and support group advocacy

Update on CSO Consultation (Cont) Partnership Arrangement  It needs to reactivate all partnership mechanisms and promote strategic partnership across actors  Space should be given to CSOs in monitoring the national budget (accountability) and the management of other national revenue.

Update on CSO Consultation (Cont) Means of Implementation  It requires appropriate funding mechanisms for CSOs: NFT, CSR, National budget allocation for CSOs….  Capacity development and effective use of qualified human resources  It requires transfer and uptake of effective system  It requires joint efforts in M&E  There should have civil society focal points to represent to the government and other actors

Update on CSO Consultation (Cont) Possible Pitfalls for CSOs  Significant challenges for CSOs to mobilize financial and human resources to support the post-2015 DA  Partnership and anti-corruption need to be reinforced from inside out  CSOs face some constraints with the legal, judicial system and culture of impunity  Partnership and trust within CSOs and among develop. actors are still the issue

What Happens in the Globe? MDG Summit requested the UN to initiate thinking on post-2015 global development agenda Rio+20 initiated an inclusive process to develop a set of sustainable development goals 3.OWG with 30 member states is mandated to prepare a proposal on SDGs

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all 9.
