Isomers have the same number of protons and a different number of NeutronsElectrons

Which of the following is an example of a trace element? SodiumIodine

Neon is an inert gas with an atomic number of 10, it has this many electrons in its valence shell 28

In water, the 2 hydrogen atoms are bonded to the oxygen by Polar covalent bonds Hydrogen bonds

If the pH of a solution has a hydrogen ion (H+) concentration of 10 -8, the pH would be pH 8pH10

Which of the following has a higher concentration of H+ ions? Gastric juice-pH 2Bleach-pH 12

Organic chemistry looks at Functional GroupsCarbon Compounds

How many electron pairs does Carbon share to complete its valence shell? 24

Carbons usually forms this type of bond HydrogenCovalent

These are Structural isomersGeometric Isomers

These are Geometric IsomersEnantiomers

Carbonyl groups have A carbon joined to An oxygen with a Double Bond A carbon joined to An oxygen with a Single bond

These functional groups act as acids Carbonyl and Phosphate Carbonyl and Carboxyl

This functional group helps stabilize proteins by forming covalent cross links CarbonylSulfide

This is an acidic functional group that can dissociate and release H+ into a solution CarbonylCarboxyl

This functional group is basic and it can accept H+ to become positively charged HydroxylAmines

These bonds maintain the structure of a secondary protein Ionic BondsHydrogen Bonds

These bonds stabilize the alpha helix and pleated sheet structures of proteins Hydrogen bondsPeptide bonds

The coiled secondary structure of a protein is called Beta Pleated SheetAlpha Helix

A change in a proteins shape is referred to as the protein being DenaturedDestabilized

Volcano Adventure Welcome to the Volcano Adventure. Your task is to complete the hike around the volcano. You’ll need heavy hiking boots to keep from burning your feet. Click on the hiking boots to start your hike and move the cursor over the path from Point 1 to Point 2. When you complete the hike you’ll get your passport back. Do not move off the path or your boots will burn up and you’ll have to come back here for new ones. Move quickly because the volcano is about to blow!
