ConnectIO Overview and On-boarding IO.CONNECTSMART.COM

Topics  What is ConnectIO?  Why are we using it?  What are it’s different parts?  How do you get started? - 8/13/2015

What is ConnectIO?  ConnectSMART-hosted service*  Retrieves data  Stores data  Reports on data  Also known as:  Data Warehouse  CMDB (configuration management database) - 8/13/2015 ConnectIO … ReportsDashboards *On-premise version also available

Why use a data warehouse?  Performance  Reduce load on production systems; users and dashboards are not sharing resources  Data can be optimized for querying - 8/13/2015 All load on the production server Reporting load moved to ConnectIO server ConnectIO

Why use a data warehouse?  Cross-system Reporting  Only one source of data to work with when creating reports from your data  Ability to cross reference data between system (i.e. ConnectWise and Labtech) - 8/13/2015

Parts of ConnectIO  Tenants  Content Stores  Data Source Packs  Tasks - 8/13/2015

Tenants - 8/13/2015  This is your access to ConnectIO  Each customer is assigned a tenant, typically a short- form name of their company  All users, reports, and data are scoped to each tenant: only you have access to your information

Content Stores  Where your data lives in ConnectIO  A database that only your tenant can access  This is where data is imported into and where reports / dashboards are reading from - 8/13/2015

Data source packs  A data source is a system we want to get data from, like ConnectWise or Labtech  A data source pack is a collection of models, scripts, and tasks that know how to communicate with that particular system and how its data should be imported - 8/13/2015 Data SourceModels ConnectWise -Companies -Tickets -Activity -Etc… LabTech -Computers -Groups -Software -Etc…

Tasks  Determines when we import data  Different types of data are imported and updated on different schedules  Important data that changes frequently will be imported on a short interval  Data that doesn’t change very often will import on a longer interval - 8/13/2015 TaskDescriptionInterval Base Imports everything Runs Once Quick Only changes in a small set of tables Every 2 minutes Nightly All tables not running on quick Once a day at night *These are examples; differs depending on the pack

How do you get started?  First, sign up for the data warehouse with your subscription!  Our support team will create your tenant and give you credentials to log in at io.connectsmart.com  Log in and start the wizard! - 8/13/2015
