project goals build live aboard skin boat launch: fall 2004

description cruising multihull sailboat –50’ flexible skin on frame –construction by one skilled worker with a part time assistant –can be built anywhere –building time: 1 year

why a skin boat? –superior strength/weight ratio –test theory that flexible hull shows better flow characteristics than rigid one –no corrosion or delamination –low cost –lashings = cheap labor

wish list 1.has to withstand offshore environs 2.cost under $40, top speed 20kts 4.beachable 5.comfortable live-aboard: table to sit 6 comfortably generous ‘master bedroom’ ‘studio’ space 6.5’ headroom washing machine fresh and seawater systems
