What is a Political Cartoon? It is a funny way of making a point Also it has many steps to it
Step One: Know about the Topic To make a cartoon you must know about the topic Do some research…READ A BOOK! Talk to someone that might know the subject Read a hand out EX: my topic is the Punic wars
Example: Punic Wars Who: Carthage a Phoenician colony in Canaan and Rome What: 3 mass wars between Carthage and Rome Were: Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, Spain, eastern Mediterranean, Swiss alps, Italy and Canaan When: BCE (off and on) Why: land disputes
Brainstorming The pre-write is one of the most important parts of a cartoon Here you Brainstorm to try to find a point and/or a joke You can use any type of brainstorming way you would like Final select a Idea you like the best
Example: Punic Wars
Rough Draft A rough draft is a Rough draft, it should not be perfect A rough draft should be full of marks, edited, and foot notes It may be smart to have a friend to read it over to make sure that it is correct, and make sense.
Format It needs: A title (top) The first person to talk’s word bubble must be on top Name (bottom right corner Clear and easy to understand Drawings (OF COURSE!)
Example: Rough Draft
Final Draft This is the time for the “final countdown” 3:Make sure you have every thing perfect 2:Be careful 1: DO YOUR BEST “Launch” your comic by showing it around
