We believe discipline should be considered as opportunities for personal growth. We believe that students should be responsible for solving their own problems with adult guidance. We believe that preserving and/or enhancing a student’s self-respect and dignity is crucial to a successful disciplinary action. We believe in natural consequences for the action. We believe in a fluid clip chart system with communication home daily in student planners.

All subject areas taught in Kindergarten are aligned with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). Math is taught with hands on activities and manipulatives, using Texas Go Math curriculum. We use district adopted curriculum, supplemental materials and teacher created materials.
Please see the handout for correct letter formation Music, P.E., and Art are taught by teachers with specialized training in those areas. Science, Social Studies and Computer Technology are taught by the classroom teacher and all subject areas are integrated continually.
Targeted instruction is a method of assessment and instruction based on individual needs Students will receive small group instruction to fill academic gaps and enrich learning
Good attendance is important for many reasons. Your child receives the maximum benefit of education by being in school every day, and numerous studies show a strong link between academic performance and consistent attendance. Because attendance is so critical for the quality of your child's education, Texas has a Compulsory Attendance Law.
School district policy states, “If a student fails to attend school without excuse on 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period in the same school year, the District shall file a complaint against the student’s parent in a county, justice or municipal court for an offense under Education Code ” Please be aware that vacations are NOT excused absences.
Attendance If your child is absent, please send an or note to myself.
Please read with your child at least TEN minutes daily and fill in their Reading Log Practice sight words at home (Fry Words) Spot Light Reader
Children must travel on the bus to and from the school. Parents must pay separately when attending the field trip, and because of space, will not be able to ride the school bus. If a parent is a chaperone, we ask that you do not bring siblings. There will be a field trip chaperone form needed for you to attend as a chaperone. Make sure your child brings a disposable lunch. Please pay a one time fee of $12 to cover the cost of the field trips this year. Pay by October 1 st.
T-shirts have already been ordered for Kindergarten. Teachers keep the t-shirts in the classroom during the year. T-shirts are $8.00. Please check the list to see if you still need to pay for our class t-shirt.
Quarterly reports will be given Conferencing will occur on an as-needed basis, as well as October 12 th

● The report card is one tool for communication between home and school. ● Students receive a report card four times a year. ● Only the envelope needs to be returned. ● The report card is for you to keep. ● It is necessary that you sign the envelope and return it within a week. ● The report card includes a comment box where your child’s teacher includes additional information and/or requests a conference. ● You also are invited to enter comments. You’ll notice the signature box on the envelope includes a place for you to enclose comments about the grading period or request a conference.
