Executive Branch The President is in charge of the branch. There is many parts in the Executive Branch that the president has to do so he has helpers that will help him called the Cabinet. The cabinet help passed the laws that are made by congress.

Executive Branch The President can send the military to other areas of the world, they just need to get permission from congress As “Commander-in-Chief” the president is in charge of the military. To be a president you must: BORN IN AMERICA be at least 35 years old, and must have lived in the US for at least 14 years.

Legislative Branch Makes and changes laws, CAN declare war, and is called Congress Congress has significant power of Constitution Congress can override a presidential veto Is Bicameral (consists of two parts) Has the House of Representatives and the Senate

Legislative Branch The House of Representatives has 435 elected members There is 5 non-voting members You must be at least 25 years old to be an elected member The house revenue bills, and impeach the federal officials The house has many powers, one of them is initiate revenue bills

Judicial Branch Judicial Branch interprets the laws Members of the Judicial Branch are appointed by the president. The supreme court is the is the highest court There are 9 justices all nominate by the president confirmed by senate Judges and justices serve until retirement or death

Judicial Branch Supreme Courts cant hold trials on questions about the law 7500 request for certiorari filed each year, and 150 of them are granted by courts Once the supreme court interprets a law, inferior courts apply the supreme court interpretation into facts of the particular case Supreme courts review appealed district court cases and try most federal cases.

Judicial Branch Courts do not issue the opinions about the laws Lower courts are to are to follow the precedent sent by supreme court when making decisions Criminal cases can be dealt with either the state or federal law Civil cases are similar but they are dealt with disputes between individuals or organizations
