An Introduction to The Delta Initiative PeopleSoft Implementation at UMBC

What is PeopleSoft A software package that will take processes that are now largely manual and disconnected and recreate them in an online environment that will eventually integrate all budget, human resources, and student information.

Why Are We Moving to PeopleSoft? In order to keep up with the pace of growth and provide the best possible services to the UMBC Community UMBC has grown tremendously in the past 10 years, but our business systems have not -- some will soon be obsolete

What Processes will be Affected? The project has four parts:  Finance  Human Resources  Student Administration  Enterprise Data Warehouse

What are the advantages? Make transactions as easy and efficient to complete as possible. Streamline transaction approvals. Enter data once and make it accessible for multiple purposes. Make business processes accessible from anywhere, on-campus or off-campus, any time of day. Minimize the need for time-consuming customization of the software by making our business processes flexible wherever possible.

When Do We Start Using PeopleSoft? The Finance and Human Resources systems will “go live” on July 1, 2003.
