Standards Statement ® Students will use speaking and listening skills to convey what they have learned about the demographics within their community and its impact on the needs of underserved member. Engaging Prior Knowledge Questions to be addressed with a plan are:  What did you learn about the culture of your community through the interviews?  What did you learn through the observations?  What information did you gather about the needs of the community through the data and the trends that it represents?  What information have you gathered about special needs community members?  What information do you have about the socioeconomic needs within the community? ®

Engaging Prior Knowledge How are you going to pull this information together? ®

Presentation Planning Use this document as a guide for your project presentation. Your Presentation should include the following information:  Peer Interviews  Community demographic sheets  Interviews of family and community members  Community Observations  Reflective documents about special needs within the community  Reflective document about socioeconomic factions within the community ®

Questions to help organize  Why would these elements be important?  How will you plan to present this information focusing on the most important findings?  What should be the order in which you will present the information?  What is the responsibility of each member of the team? ®

Rubric  Content  Technical Requirements  Language Arts components and Mechanisms  Prototype, testing and redesign  Personal Reflection ® Here are the criterion that will be used to evaluate your presentation.

Remember the Presentation Essentials  Presentation Purpose: What is the purpose of the presentation?  Audience: Who are the people who will be listening to your presentation?  Presentation Message: What is the one key message that you would like to convey to your audience?  Use your Community Needs Essentials as your outline  Gather your information for the presentation from your notebook  Sketch out your slides using your student sheet  Team members- Decide who is to be responsible for what parts of the presentation. ®

Remember Multimedia Presentation Tips Answer all questions in detail. (not on your slides but in the presentation) Explain the profile of your community. Give details about your community and underrepresented citizens. Explain essential engineering and what you have seen within your community and gaps in accessibility that might be addressed through a project. Use graphics whenever possible which can include pictures of your prototype development and testing. Font size of is recommended. Background should never distract from the presentation. Create your flipsnack for web viewing and sharing. Font preference and color should be consistent throughout the presentation except for extreme effects. ®
