Mersin 3 Ocak Secondary School 3rd Comenius Meeting in Mersin, Turkey The Bookworms of Europe 19th October – 24th October

 When we examine the classes ‘ layout of Mersin 3 Ocak Secondary School  5th grades are: 283,  6th grades are : 246,  7th grades are: 266,  8 th grades are:316 and the total is:  When we accept Mersin 3 Ocak Secondary School as a population our sample is formed as the rate of 50 students which are chosen by stratified sampling

 50 students (6th,7th,8th grades) of Mersin 3 Ocak Secondary School answered the questionaire

 80% of students have expressed that they love to read books.  12% Sometimes they like to read books  8% said that they do not like to read books.

 80% of students expressed that they like reading books at home.  16% of students expressed that they like reading books in the library.  Only 4% students expressed that they like reading books at the school.

 48% of students like reading novels.  44% of students like reading adventure books.  8% of students like reading story books.  0% none or them like reading poem

 76% of students expressed that they have no magazine subscriptions,  only 20% sudents expressed that they subscribe to ‘science and the children’ magazine

 20% of students expressed that the book is in the 1st place   44% of students expressed that the book is in the 3rd place  32% of students expressed that the book is in the 5th place in the shopping list.

 44% of students read a book for half an hour,  36% of students stated that they have read 1 hour,  16% of students reported that they read less than half an hour.

 48% of students indicate that they have enough books  24% students indicate that they have too much books  24% students indicate that they have little books

 Most students like reading.  Most students like reading at home.  Secondary school students read for getting knowledge or enriching their knowledge. They love reading novels abut they don’t like reading poems.  The students spend almost 2 hours or more per week on reading books.  Most of students have own libraries at home.
