Mounting best practices 1.Always mount to a solid, rigid surface when available 2.Whenever possible, it is recommended you mount the ShockLog directly to the product being monitored using all four (4) supplied mounting bolts 3.When mounting inside packaging or crates, make sure the product is secured by foam or mounting screws to ensure the unit records accurate impacts to the shipment

Mounting best practices 4.Mount as low as possible, but note that it is more important to be nearest to the most sensitive part of your product 5.Long shipments (>20 ft) mount unit at both ends of the shipment 6.Irregular shipments mount the ShockLog as close to the most sensitive part of the shipment as possible.

Mounting best practices cont… 7.If you can't drill holes or are testing at different points on shipment, it is possible to use an aggressive adhesive or double sided tape 8.If the unit will be mounted externally to the product or packaging, a waterproof and/or tamperproof box is recommended 9.If monitoring a large shipment, always use the anti-vibration bushes

Mounting Diagram The isolation bushes must fit as shown. For the bushes to work correctly, the ShockLog 298 must not make metal-to- metal contact with the mounting plate

Mounting Plate If drilling holes in your product is an issue, a predrilled mounting plate with four isolation bushes and one fixing hole in the middle of the plate that attaches to the shipment. The mounting hole is supplied drilled for an M8 bolt but can be drilled out to accept a larger bolt. Single fixing bolt to surface
