OOOOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHH! The Excitement and Anticipation of Your Freshman Year of High School Overview of the Scheduling Process

Scheduling Process Creating a schedule that “works” What classes do I have to take? What classes do I want to take? How do I know what I should take? What courses are helpful if I know what career I wish to pursue?

What I have to take… English Science Mathematics Social Studies Information Technology Physical Education

What is the difference between academic and advanced academic? An advanced academic course has additional course work—more challenging. You receive add on credit which becomes very important as you near graduation- class rank. You must have at least an 88% cumulative average at year’s end to take the class. 1Q 91.28% 2Q 92.42% 3Q 89.54% 4Q 88.34% cumulative avg. – 90.39%

What classes should I take? Take classes that are challenging yet attainable. Select courses that will match interests, talents, and career goals.

Will I take… Academic English Advanced Academic English requires an 88% cumulative average and a summer reading project – info on the website about the project

I will select… Academic Biology Advanced Academic Biology requires an 88% cumulative average

My selection will be… Academic US History I Advanced Academic US History I requires an 88% cumulative average

Math adds up a bit differently… If you took Pre-Algebra this year and received a 82% or above for the year, you will schedule for Academic Algebra I. If you took Pre-Algebra this year and received a 81% or below for the year, you will schedule for Integrated Math. If you score BASIC or BELOW BASIC on the PSSA, you will be scheduled for Integrated Math.

Math continued… If you took Algebra I this year, you must earn an 82% or better to move onto Advanced Academic Geometry. If you took Advanced Academic Geometry this year, you need an 82% or higher to schedule for Advanced Academic Algebra II. If you have 81% or below, your math options will need to be reviewed.
