The ECOS Commission (Economic and Social policy) of the EU Committee of the Regions has decided to organize in the Marches, in collaboration with the Region, the annual external seminar and focus it on the theme of home automation at the service of active ageing 2012: EUROPEAN YEAR FOR ACTIVE AGEING

In order to boost growth and jobs, Europe has identified 3 priorities and 7 flagship initiatives PRIORITIES: smart growth; sustainable growth; inclusive growth Flagship initiatives: Digital Agenda for Europe; Youth on the move, Innovation Union; Resource efficient Europe, an industrial policy for the globalisation era; an agenda for new skills and jobs; European platform against poverty EUROPE 2020 STRATEGY

HORIZON 2020 PROGRAM Horizon 2020, the new EU framework programme for research and innovation will be an essential tool in order to implement one of the 7 flagship initiatives of Europe 2020 (Innovation Union), it will realise the commitments and respond to the European Commission conclusions (4 th February 2011) and to the European Parliament resolution (12 th May 2011) on Innovation Union.

Active ageing key project of the Marche Region government for community development and cohesion 3 rd e 4 th age are not a disease: project aimed at making elderlys life and activities easier, more independent and vital. Besides community health, it involves economy, technology and research with universities, companies, professions, institutions. ACTIVE AGEING: A STRATEGIC VARIABLE FOR THE COMMUNITY NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM COSTS: People aged 20: 600 Euro per year Over 65: 5,000 Euro per year

Strengthening of transnational co-operation between regional clusters of excellence on living technologies. It aims at promoting innovative policies in order to improve an independent and sustainable lifestyle for the elderly. This project was financed by the Seventh Research and Development Framework Programme of European Commission in January 2011 ( ) i-LIVE is a project of cluster smart specialisation (Marche Region cluster on ambient intelligence technologies for Independent LIVing and Eco-sustainability), aimed at promoting an independent and sustainable life for the elderly.
