Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit ArchiMate Core Concepts in PEL Exercise

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Business Actor > An organizational entity that can perform a behaviour

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Business Role > An Actor can be assigned to a Business Role which has the responsibility for performing specific behaviour

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Business process > A process describes the internal behaviour of an organization end-to- end process

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Business Collaboration element

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Assignment > The STUDENT is assigned the role of PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING CLAIMANT

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Triggering > The business interaction REVIEW CLAIM AGAINST LEARNING OUTCOMES is triggered by the business process SUBMIT THE PEL CLAIM

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Used by > Models the use of services and access to interfaces by roles, or collaborations The STUDENT RECORDS SERVICE is used by the RECORD PEL ACCREDITATION process

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Aggregation > The CLAIM REVIEW MEETING is an aggregation of the PEL ADVISOR and the PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING CLAiMANT

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Practical 2 Part 1 Recreate the Jigsaw Model Using Archi, set up a model with the elements and relationships we created earlier using the cards.

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit break

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Practical 2 Part 2 Adding Additional Elements The original model we asked you to create is fairly simplistic and some aspects of the process are missing.

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit PEL > Appeals Another part of the PEL accreditation process is the chance for the Student to appeal against the final decision. If they wish to appeal they must lodge their appeal with the University PEL committee The committee will then review the decision and inform the student if the appeal is successful or not. A successful appeal will lead to the Student Record System requiring amendment. Add the required parts of the appeals process to your map

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit PEL > Recording They decide to add a PEL Progress Server to record the decisions at key stages in the PEL process and ask you to add this to the model so they can see how this could be achieved. You need to work out the key stages in the process where a decision needs recording and add the event of recording these decisions by a relevant actor or role to the model – along with the relevant technology layer. You can either use the Archi software to do this or your physical jigsaw version of the model.

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Solution to PEL Exercise 2

Staffordshire University : Learning Development and Innovation part of the University’s Academic Development Unit Case Study We will have an another break now and afterwards we will look more at the use of model to develop an As Is.. To Be scenario and for spotting gaps and potential problems in a process
