Contents Introduction Plot Characters Background Information - Forrest Gump - Jenny Curran - Dan Taylor - Bubba - Mrs. Gump Background Information Criticism based on two reviews My own evaluation List of references

Introduction Why Forrest Gump for reviewing? One of my favourite films Teaches simple truths and values of life Impressive Plot (whole life with a lot of adventures) Includes a lot of meaningful quotes (life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get)

Plot The film includes life story of Forrest Gump. Childhood Low IQ level Meeting Jenny in the school bus Braces on legs – “Run Forrest Run” High-school years American Football visiting Jenny with a box of chocolate “College ran by real fast 'cause I played so much football” Military Obeying the rules & big success Vietnam & Bubba Advice from Jenny: “Just run away” New sport at military hospital “Table Tennis”

Plot Shrimp business Retirement Luitenant Dan Ship named Jenny Big storm Bubba&Gump Retirement Running (three years, two months, 14 days and 16 hours) Mariage with Jenny Living in a boarding hause

Forrest Gump Pratogonist Loves Jenny Stabile character Whole movie is characterisication of Forrest Gump

Jenny Curran Forrest’s big Love Has as a dream to become a folk singer. “Jenny and I were like peas and carrots. She taught me how to climb. I showed her how to dangle. She helped me learn how to read, and I showed her how to swing. Sometimes, we'd just sit out and wait for the stars.” Run; Forrest! Run! “She lived in a house that was as old as Alabama. Her mama had gone to heaven when she was five, and her daddy was some kind of a farmer.”

Dan Taylor “He was from a long, great military tradition. Somebody in his family had fought and died in every single American war.” “The day you are a shrimp boat captain, I will come and be your first mate.”

Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue “Bubba is my best good friend. I have to make sure he is OK.” He knows everything about shrimps. His big dream is to be a shrimp boat captain. He offers Forrest to get into shrimp business.

Mrs. Gump Stupid is as stupid does. She is Forrest’s mother. Life is a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you're going to get. Death is just a part of life. Something we're all destined to do. Stupid is as stupid does. She is Forrest’s mother. She always wants the best for Forrest.

Awards These are the awards, which movie won at 1995 Oscars. Best Actor in a Leading Role Tom Hanks  Best Director Robert Zemeckis  Best Effects, Visual Effects Ken Ralston  George Murphy  Stephen Rosenbaum  Allen Hall  Best Film Editing Arthur Schmidt  Best Picture Wendy Finerman  Steve Starkey  Steve Tisch  Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium Eric Roth

Criticism based on two stories Robert Faires, Austin Chronicle / July 15, 1994 Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times / July 6, 1994 “Any attempt to describe him will risk making the movie seem more conventional than it is.” “Tom Hanks may be the only actor who could have played the role” It’s not only an average lifestory drama. There are very successful actors in the business who could pull the part of pretty well. It reframes recent history of the world.

My own evaluation Compare with Benjamin Button The scenes are connected. Barber shop School bus Father Forrest and son Forrest Reframes important events happened in America. “Some years later, that handsome young man who they called The King, well, he sung too many songs. Had himself a heart attack or something. It must be hard being a king.” “Some time later, for no particular reason, somebody shot that nice young President (Kennedy) when he was in his car. And a few years after that, somebody shot his little brother, too, only he was in a hotel kitchen.”

My own evaluation Social events Jenny is drug addict, of growing up in a bad family. Forrest endangers his own life to save Bubba.
