CANADA AGRICULTUR E

* The placements that we have open are for large crop farms, some mixed beef and crop farms, so some equipment experience is a must. * Starting with 10 good applicants for this season * Trainee’s live with your host family on the farm, or in trailer on the property

* We are partnering with International Rural Exchange (Thanks to Clarissa who passed on the lead ) * Trainees should have at least two years of experience in farming in order to apply. Practical experience in driving machinery is very important.

* What they earn :$11.00 per hour for 45 hours a week. Your host must take deductions of your cheque that the government of Canada requires, and a small amount ($350) to pay for your food and lodging. Inbound trainees will make approximately $1400 CAD per month in net pay. You can apply to get the income tax back that was deducted from your paycheque when you leave Canada.

* 45 hrs work per week Generally 1 person per farm unless farm really big then 2 – 3 Overtime 13CA$ per hour Trainee works 5 – 9 hrs per day starting 8am to 6pm with an hour off for lunch – out in fields caltivating – mechanical work

Trainees must be 18 – 30 years – RSA passports Season April – November - Can do 1 year but then they go on short time when the snow hits.

* DEPARTURE is in April, they have to attend a Orientation on arrival first then go off to their host family * Visa could take 4 weeks or so so we need to PUSH PUSH PUSH for now. IE: Go through to all the AGRI USA clients who haven’t been placed yet and see who wants to put forward an application

* They fly into whatever airport is closest to the host, most typically, Regina (YQR), Saskatoon (YYZ), Edmonton (YEG) or Calgary (YYC). * Orientation - there is one in each of the provinces - Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. They go to the closest one, but sometimes they go to whatever the last one is if they haven't arrived in time to go to the closest one

* Orientation Dates are April 15-16, Saskatchewan, April 23-24, Manitoba, April Alberta. If they miss all those, we do a mini-orientation at the Trainee Fun Weekend June in Saskatchewan.
