The future of road safety  In-vehicle safety technology makes driving safer  Passive safety systems are important to reduce severity of accidents, driver assistance systems can support to avoid accidents. Both technologies together are enabling new safety functions.  A basis surround sensing technology can be used for several safety and comfort functions. Cost reduction for system hardware due to increasing market volumes.  Driver assistance systems will enable a step by step approach of automated driving. 14
