Site Ecology
The house is around lakefronts, canals, rail lines, and highways the Special No. 9 House was developed away from the heart of a city
There is one bus line connection the house to the closest city
The house is designed to retain water and has a cistern full of grey water
One of the project’s focuses is to reconstruct a neighborhood so that it is more resistant to climate
As infrastructure is rebuilt, more busses will link the community to cities
The main goal of this project is to construct a stronger community that is more green and more resistant to climate
Water Resources
This house uses low flow toilets and showerheads that use less than 2.2 gallon per minute
Rain water is collected and used in the house
The building is made to use gray water which is water that was use in baths, sinks, washing machines, and utensils
The house reuses gray water and waste water
The house is capable of retaining 62% of precipitation from rain. Usually about 600 gallons.
Captured water can be irrigated to the trellis, a garden that also shades the house in the summer, through a pump system
Although rain water is cannot be used inside the house yet, the house has a cistern, a holding tank for water, where gray water is stored for when it can be used inside the house later
