Great Women In many countries on all continents women show that they can succeed in many spheres of science, art and social life.

Margaret Hilda Thatcher Thatcher, Margaret Hilda, (1925- ), first woman to hold the office of prime minister of the United Kingdom (1979-1990). She was succeeded as a party leader and prime minister.

Women scientists Marie Curie was a famous scientist who studied radioactivity. In 1903, she became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, sharing the prize in physics. She won a second Nobel Prize in 1911 in chemistry. Marie Curie

Mother Teresa of Calcutta Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997), Roman Catholic nun, founder of the Missionaries of Charity. For her humanitarian work she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
