Let your light shine!

Gathering Hymn – I the Lord of sea and sky

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them, Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide, Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them, Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

Opening greeting

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I asked blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Father John: Lord have mercy. Everyone: Lord have mercy. Father John: Christ have mercy. Everyone: Christ have mercy Father John: Lord have mercy Everyone: Lord have mercy

Please sit for the readings and responsorial psalm

The first reading is from the St Paul’s letters to the Ephesians 3:14-21

The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The Responsorial Psalm. Be our light, Lord God, in the days to come.

If you trust in the Lord and do good Then you will live in the land and be secure. If you find your delight in the Lord, He will grant your heart's desire. Be our light, Lord God, in the days to come.

Commit your life to the Lord, Trust in him and he will act, So that your justice breaks forth like the light, And your cause like the noon day sun. Be our light, Lord God, in the days to come.

Prayers of the faithful

Let us make our prayers to God, as we pray at the beginning of our school year: Look after us Lord, during this coming year; help us to live in this school as a Christian community. Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer

We pray for all who work in this school – guide them, support them and let your light shine through them. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer

We pray for anyone that is new to our school especially those children in Reception. We hope they will be happy here and find plenty of friends. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer

Lord, may we share our light generously with those in our world who live in poverty. Help us to find ways to share the good things in our lives with them. Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer

Let us ask our Mother Mary to help us in our prayers as we say.. Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Communion Hymn ‘Do not be afraid’ (Sing 3 times)

Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you walk through the waters, I’ll be with you; you will never sink beneath the waves. Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine.

When the fire is burning all around you, you will never be consumed by the flames. Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine. When the fear of loneliness is looming, then remember I am at your side.

Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you dwell in the exile of a stranger, remember you are precious in my eyes. Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine.

You are mine, O my child, I am your Father, and I love you with a perfect love. Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine.

Please stand for the final blessing.

Final Hymn - Shine, Jesus, Shine!

1. Lord, the light of your love is shining, in the midst of the darkness, shining. Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us. Set us free by the truth you now bring us. Shine on me, shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine; fill this land with the Father’s glory. Blaze, Spirit, blaze; set our hearts on fire. Flow, river, flow; flood the nations with grace and mercy. Send forth your Word, Lord, and let there be light.

2. Lord, I come to your awesome presence, from the shadows into your radiance. By the blood I may enter your brightness. Search me, try me, consume all my darkness.

3. As we gaze on your kingly brightness, So our faces display your likeness, ever changing from glory to glory. Mirrored here, may our lives tell your story.

(SING TWICE)

Let your light shine...
