About Our Class Science We follow the California State Standards • plate tectonics/earthquakes/volcanoes • earth’s structure • the shaping of the earth’s surface • atmosphere/weather/climate • energy in the earth system • ecology and resources.

About Our Class Math We follow the California State Standards • integer operations • positive/negative decimals and fractions • ratios and proportions • percents • statistics and probability • basic geometry • graphing

Students must bring to class everyday!! Materials Students must bring to class everyday!! • Loose, lined paper for note taking • PENCILS, PENCILS, PENCILS • Colored pens • SSR Book -reading book • Three ring binder with a section dedicated to math and one to science. • Self-contained pencil sharpener • Colored pencils/markers • Two spiral notebooks – one for Math and one for Science Journal 

Grading Policy Grading Scale A = 90 - 100% B = 80 - 89% C = 70 - 79% Math Tests 45% Quizzes 30% Homework/Classwork 25% Science Tests/Quizzes 60% Homework/Classwork 40% Grading Scale A = 90 - 100% B = 80 - 89% C = 70 - 79% D = 60 - 69% F = 59% or less

Homework Policy - Science • No late work is accepted. If you child did not have the work completed when checked or turned in, it will show as a “0” in the grade book. Absent Work • Students are responsible for checking the homework board, collecting any worksheets, and asking the teacher any questions about the missed assignment/s. • Students have two days for every day absent to complete the work.

Homework Policy - Math • All work must be shown or NO CREDIT. • Must be neat and readable. • All work must be shown or NO CREDIT. • Late work is accepted for 70% the credit up until the benchmark. • Parents – you need to check the grade book frequently Absent Work • Students are responsible for checking the homework board, collecting any worksheets, and asking the teacher any questions about the missed assignment/s. • Students have two days to complete the work.

Classroom Rules Be in your seat working on the bellwork/journal before the bell rings Be prepared. That means have paper, pencils, and reading book everyday. Always listen to directions the FIRST time they are given. Be respectful – do not touch others belongings. Always speak kindly. Consequences • First Offence - Verbal warning • Second Offence - Name on board/time out • Third Offense – Escort out of the room/referral. Rewards • Praise • Goodrich Cougar Bucks • Raise citizenship grade

Miscellaneous Test Retakes • No retakes on tests. • No retakes on quizzes. • Make-ups (when absent) on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school only. Assignments • Assignments are posted online - check web page Missing/late work • Parents are responsible for checking the grade book for missing assignments. No late work is accepted in science. In math, late work will be accepted for 70% credit up until the benchmark. Student Planners • Students must fill in the planner everyday for every class. • Parents need to look check their child’s planner to make sure it is being filled out.
