Berlin Where, Why and What

 This PowerPoint will help understand everything there is to know about modern Berlin.  It will help you to understand why Berlin is important to Germany.

 Berlin is the capital of Germany.  It has a population of 3.5 million people.  It is a city very full of history.

 Brandenburger Tor – One of the original city gates of Berlin. Rebuilt in the 18 th century into a triumphal arch. Restored in Now a major landmark for Berlin and Germany.  KaDeWe – Kaufhaus Des Westens. A supermall built in the days when there was an East and West Germany. Has one of the largest selections of items in Europe.

 Galerie des Ostens– An international memorial of freedom. A 1.3km long segment of the Berlin Wall that has hundreds of paintings by well- known artists on the former East side.  Checkpoint Charlie – The most well-known crossing point of the Berlin Wall during the Cold War.
