Only for Loneworkers

People who work alone (day- or nightshifts, or self-employment) are initially on their own in the case of an emergency. That is why the safety of lone workers requires extra attention. A lone worker is someone who works out of sight or earshot of other people. Only for Loneworkers

My Bodyguard has developed a lone workers concept. The concept links a request for help to a safety worker. The request for help can be triggered manually by pressing just one or two buttons. However, if the user is no longer capable of doing a manual request, for instance while being unconscious, a request for help can also be activated automatically if insufficient motion is detected. This concept is called "man down". Only for Loneworkers

The technique

There is an important role for a good functioning central alarm service. They are leading to ensure that the request for help with all important information is send to the helpers in the field. Central Alarm Service

Reports may be transmitted in various ways to the helpers in the field. Calling multiple helpers.Calling multiple helpers. Central Alarm Service

To the alarm service central it is essential that the correct information is send as quickly as possible to the helpers. Outside buildings the position of the loneworkers is calculated by the use of GPS. For enclosed areas, within fences, addresses of standard maps are not good to use, the right addresses should be separately added to our database. Central Alarm Service

The yellow shaded area is the business address ´Het Wegdam 1´. When you position at the green arrow in Google Maps the address returned is ´Het Assink 8´ which is the location at the red balloon.

If we add the location to our database we also add specific information about the location. The red balloon is the container storage. When an alarm is raised inside this area this information is also shown to the operator. The operator will see the following: Het Wegdam 1, 7496 Hengevelde, NL – Container Storage

GPS doesn’t work inside buildings. Therefore measures must be made in the case loneworkers are working in buildings. There are 5 different ways to do this: Central Alarm Service

1. You can us socalled Ibuttons in combination with an Ibuttonreader. The loneworker has to report where he works for every room with the IButton, then in case of an emergency the location of the last IButton read will be reported to the Central Alarm Service. Central Alarm Service

2.Data is provided showing all addresses and locations where the worker may be located in an emergency. This solution is widely used in e.g. the nursing staff. Central Alarm Service

3.You use beacons that automatically register in what room and on which floor the loneworker is in the case of an emergency. Central Alarm Service

4. A connection is made with the persons agenda. If the agenda is kept up to date this can be used to determine the location of the person. The location and time of the current agenda point is shown to the operator and passed on to the emergency services. Central Alarm Service

5. An application can be installed on a phone with Android or an iPhone. With this application you can select or type your current location. Also the time you are at the site is filled in. For example: Now (8:20) until 9:30. This location with time is shown to the operator during an alarm and also passed on the the emergency services. Central Alarm Service

The loneworkers can send various request for help, depending on the urgency. The report with the highest urgency in activated by pressing both the red and the green button. There are multiple ways of arranging how to react: PolicePolice AmbulanceAmbulance Fire departmentFire department Corporate safety serviceCorporate safety service Own securityOwn security ColleaguesColleagues Central Alarm Service

Lower emergency reports are activated by pressing only the red button. Lower emergency reports are cases like for example: being stuck in a room. There are multiple ways of arranging how to react: Corporate safety serviceCorporate safety service Own securityOwn security ColleaguesColleagues Central Alarm Service

The report by insufficient movement “man down”. Man Down means that a loneworker is not capable of pressing the button to sound the alarm himself. There are multiple ways of arranging how to react : Corporate safety serviceCorporate safety service Own securityOwn security ColleaguesColleagues First user then colleagesFirst user then colleages Central Alarm Service

For a well working concept the it has to be properly organized on a organizational level. The support of the end-user (loneworker) is very important. Organizational

For the right use proper explanation is required. Organizational

It is important that the complete concept is checked on proper use and functioning. A report will be send the person responsible for guiding the people about the theme working alone. Organizational

Within 7 days after shipment you need to make an alarm with the red button on the My-Bodyguard. Before you do anything read the instruction manual thoroughly. In case the alarm is not made within 7 days you will be called with the request to make the alarm. Warning: You are not connected to the alarm service central until this alarm has come through correctly. First Alarm

You will not get a voice connection and can’t talk to the dispatcher You can’t do this until the connection with the alarm service central is gone. The light on the My-Bodyguard should be blinking green again before you do this. Emergency / Panic Alarm

The alarm with a lower urgency is activated by pressing the red button. Lower urgency means for example: being locked up in a room. There are multiple ways of arranging how to react: -Corporate safety service -Own security -Colleagues Assistant Alarm

- Alarm by consciousness detection “ Man Down ” - Man Down means that a lone-worker is not able to press a button to actively make an alarm. There are multiple ways of arranging how to react: -Corporate safety service -Own security -Colleagues -First user then colleagues Not enough movement alarm “ Man down”

- Alarm by not moving enough. - The My-Bodyguard will automatically make an alarm if it hasn’t moved enough for 5 minutes. You will be warned by a pre-alarm. - My-Bodyguard will then beep and vibrate for 30 seconds. - In case you don’t press on one of the buttons within 30 seconds the alarm will be transmitted to the alarm service central. - You get a voice connection and can talk to the dispatcher. Not enough movement alarm “ Man down”

It is important that the complete concept is checked for proper operation and use. A report will be send to the person responsible for supervising and guiding employees about working alone. Checking for proper operation

After a preset time the My-Bodyguard automatically gives a signal to the alarm Service central. If this isn’t possible, for example in case a bad GSM connection, it will be reported to you. Checking for proper operation

After assistance has been given or the test is completed, the user has to log off by pressing the Green Button. Recover / Test Alarm Press for a minimum of 3 seconds on the Green Button. Keep pressing until the unit vibrates long.
