Year 8 Science Project Homework Elements Due in by Friday 6 th March 2015

Your challenge You are going to research information about one element to present to the rest of your class. You must find out 5 facts about your element Your presentation should last no longer than 2 minutes and should contain pictures and key facts. You may work with up to ONE other student, but everyone must take part in the presentation.

There are over 100 elements in the Periodic Table so try and chose an element that is NOT being done by another group. Find out 5 interesting facts about your element Where can it be found? How is it extracted? Is it expensive to buy? What is it used for? Does it have a high or low melting point or boiling point? Is your element very reactive or is it inert? Does it have an unusual symbol? e.g. potassium is K Don’t forget to include pictures AND YOUR REFERENCES!

The Marking Criteria You will be marked on the following criteria: Scientific Content – what science have you found about for your element Presentation style (verbal & visual elements) Presentation technique – eye contact with the audience, keeping to time limit, clear concise communication Use of Sources and referencing
