Society for Science & the Public A nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization Our vision is to promote the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform, educate and inspire.

Science News Media Group Science News Science News has been published by SSP since SN offers readers bold, contemporary, award-winning editorial content, detailed imagery, a blog network, and access to archives going back to 1924 Science News for Students Launched by the Society in 2003 as a youth edition and companion to Science News magazine, SNS has content tailored to be accessible and interesting to student scientists and serves as the flagship publication of the Student Science section of SSP’s website

SSP Science Education Programs Intel Science Talent Search (U.S. high school seniors) Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (9 th -12 th grade students from more than 75 countries, regions and territories) Broadcom MASTERS (U.S. 6 th -8 th grade; and a special Broadcom MASTERS International Program at Intel ISEF)

Intel Science Talent Search The Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS), a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the nation’s most prestigious science research competition for high school seniors. The Intel STS encourages talented U.S. high school seniors to pursue independent research in science, math, engineering, and medicine as they compete for awards, including three top awards of $150,000. Eight STS alumni have become Nobel Laureates.

Intel International Science and Engineering Fair The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. The premier global science competition for students in grades 9–12, Intel ISEF provides an annual forum for nearly 1,700 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions, and territories to display and discuss their independent research.

Broadcom MASTERS Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering for Rising Stars), a program of Society for Science & the Public, inspires middle schoolers to pursue their personal passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) into high school. Each year, 300 semifinalists are named from entrants nationwide. Of these, 30 finalists earn a trip to the national finals week competition to showcase their science fair projects and compete in a four-day STEM competition that rewards independent research, scientific inquiry, hands-on learning and teamwork.

Affiliated Fair Network Affiliated fairs are members of the SSP network. These competitions exist in nearly every state in the United States as well as more than 75 other countries, regions, and territories. Fairs are conducted at local, regional, state, and national levels and can be affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) and/or the Broadcom MASTERS. ssp-affiliate-fair/

Volunteers Each year SSP recruits more than 2,000 individuals to serve as volunteer judges and general volunteers for its competitions. We also encourage interested volunteers to seek out opportunities to connect with the Society’s affiliated science fairs in more than 400 communities in the United States and globally. Thousands of individuals contribute time and expertise to SSP education programs — as judges, interpreters, and event volunteers.
