Eight graders take four core subjects: English English Physical Science Physical Science World Geography World Geography Math Math Math 8 Math 8 Algebra I Algebra I Intensified Algebra I Intensified Algebra I Intensified Geometry Intensified Geometry

In addition to Core: All 8 th graders take Physical Education/Health 3 quarters of Physical Education 1 quarter of Health

Language classes meet daily all year and earn high school credit. Arabic and Chinese will be offered via distance learning. Students seeking to enroll in the second level of a language should see their teacher for initials.

High School Courses for Credit Students may begin earning high school credits in 7 th grade Courses that earn high school credit:  Foreign Language  World Geography  Math (beginning with Algebra I) You will have the option at the end of each year to not take the credit AND the grade so that it will not be included in the GPA

SOL Tests English 11: Reading English 11: Reading English 11: Writing English 11: Writing World History to 1500AD World History to 1500AD World History after 1500AD World History after 1500AD World Geography World Geography U.S. History U.S. History All students are required to pass 6 SOL tests to qualify for a Standard Diploma and 9 to qualify for an Advanced Studies Diploma. If Students who are required to pass tests for a diploma fail any of those tests, they will be given additional opportunities to take the test again.
