District Grants – What Is New? More money  New: 50% of DDF  Old: 20% of DDF Greater flexibility  New: Scholarships, travel, vocational teams  Same: Community projects, International projects DDF allocation based on prior APF giving Clubs can create large District Grants by transferring DDF and/or cash to another club  No size minimum or maximum $$ limit 02/02/13 4 Future Vision Midterm Information

District Grants – What Is New? District 5240 Policy for District Designated Funds January 15 – March 31, 2013  Allocated DDF is under the control of club  What does this mean for your club? Your club must plan for all DGs NOW! April 1 – April 15, 2013  Any uncommitted DDF will go into a common pool  Clubs can submit a maximum of 1 additional DG  DGs will be approved on a 1 st come, 1 st served basis April 15 is a “hard deadline” Need more information? Foundation > Grants > District Grants 02/02/13 5 Future Vision Midterm Information YOUR PLANNING CALENDAR HAS CHANGED!

Impact of DG Changes: What Should Your Club Do Now? 02/02/13 6 SET A MINIMUM OF 3 GOALS: 1.Ensure that you and your club members understand District & TRF policies  Appoint a New Grant Transition Coordinator 2.Submit or collaborate on DGs that use all of your club’s DDF by March 31, Have one additional DG planned and ready to submit at 12:00 midnight on April 1, 2013 Future Vision Midterm Information

Global Grants - What’s New? Requirements from TRF There are many significant changes regarding TRF policies and procedures that we will not discuss here There will be specific training for Global Grants in February and March D-5250 writable PDF Forms will be available when training begins Stay tuned for further announcements 02/02/13 7 Future Vision Midterm Information

Global Grants– What Is New? District 5240 Policies Less Money – 50% of DDF vs. 80% of DDF Grants are bigger – minimum $15,000 TRF match No DDF Allocations All clubs have equal access to DDF Clubs can request up to $18,000 DDF  DDF must still be matched with cash contributions from club(s) GGs will be submitted to the Global Grants Committee for evaluation DDF may be awarded on a merit, competitive basis 02/02/13 8 Future Vision Midterm Information

Global Grants– What Is New? District 5240 Policies In RY the District will have $120,000 DDF for GGs DDF will be divided into 4 equal parts Each quarter, one fourth ($30,000) of the DDF will be available for GGs If all DDF for a given quarter is not fully committed, the remaining funds will be rolled over to the next quarter If clubs request more DDF than is available in a given quarter, each GG submitted in that quarter will be evaluated on a merit, competitive basis. GGs which are technically adequate but which are not awarded DDF due to merit evaluation may resubmit in subsequent quarters Limit of 1 GG per club in the 1 st half yr & 1 in the 2 nd half yr 02/02/13 9 Future Vision Midterm Information

Global Grants– What Is New? District 5240 Policies The following are the deadlines for quarterly submission of Global Grants August 15, 2013 – first quarter November 15, 2013 – second quarter February 15, 2014 – third quarter May 15, 2014 – fourth quarter The Global Grants Committee will begin reviewing grants on the established dates and will try to complete the review process within 2 weeks We anticipate being able to fund 8-12 Global Grants in RY /02/13 10 Future Vision Midterm Information

Impact of GG Changes: What Should Your Club Do Now? Things to consider Fact: GGs are much more complicated than MGs Fact: Many clubs that are interested in submitting a GG in the next Rotary year have already begun planning in this RY Fact: Planning & implementation of GGs will transcend multiple years  Grants that are being planned in RY will not be submitted until RY /02/13 11 Future Vision Midterm Information

Impact of GG Changes: What Should Your Club Do Now? If your club decides that it will submit a GG Establish a timeline – when do you anticipate planning and submitting the GG Establish a club budget for support of GG(s)  How much cash will the club set aside for GGs it is submitting (maximum = 2)  How much cash will the club reserve to collaborate on GGs that another club in D-5240 is submitting  How much cash will the club reserve to collaborate on GGs that a club in another district is submitting Establish a procedure for committing cash in the planning year that will not be used until the submitting year 02/02/13 12 Future Vision Midterm Information
