Base ESY program Instructional Day July 6-31, Days Teacher PD / Planning - 2 Days Length of School Day for Base Program PK-5, PK-8 and PK-12 School Sites 8:35 a.m. – 1:50 p.m. Grade 6 – 12 Middle School Sites 9:20 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.  ESY services are typically provided during the time allotted for the base program. Contact the ESE Service Center for registration and location information for students requiring services beyond the base program calendar dates.  ESY services are provided in accordance with the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for students with disabilities.  Students with disabilities not eligible for ESY Services may be eligible for other Summer Services offerings.  Parental Notification of ESY site and Transportation Reservation

Immunizations: 1.New 7 th graders will need a second dose of chicken pox ( varicella) and the Tdap for entry. 2.Retained 7 th graders will need the 2 nd dose of chicken pox. 3.New Kindergarten students require 2 nd MMR and 2 nd varicella.  Free immunizations may be accessed by calling The Deptarment of Health’s special immunization program at , or call 211 and ask for immunization assistance.  Comprehensive vision exams and corrective lenses are available at no cost for students who qualify through the Heiken Children’s Vision program. Please call to obtain information.  Parents of students requiring physical exams for first time entry into M-DCPS can access multiple sites depending on where they reside, by calling The Children’s Trust Hotline at 211 and ask for service sites near them.

Elementary schools ◦ Ensure that the correct ESAP program code is being used for SPED students. ◦ ESAP program code determines number of SPED classes the student will be assigned to in ISIS. Secondary schools ◦ Ensure that SPED classes are hard-coded 200 on the PF9 screen. ◦ Applies to General Education courses that are taught by SPED teachers to SPED students only. ◦ The “200” must be entered manually on the PF9 screen in ISIS for all SPED courses after August rollover.  Ensure that the “Y” is reflected on the PF17 screen for all SPED students that are receiving inclusion support for the general education courses on their schedule. ◦ Must be documented on the student’s IEP in SPED EMS before the ‘Y” will be reflected on PF17  After August rollover, ◦ Review the PF4 contact hour screen for all SPED students ◦ Verify that all SPED courses are reflected.  PF4 contact hours are calculated based on SPED courses assigned to the student on the PF1 screen.  Extra teaching period supplements are NO LONGER available for Inclusion teachers.  A SPED teacher is only eligible for an extra teaching period supplement if the teacher is teaching a pure SPED class.  Class enrollment must adhere to program allocation guidelines that are provided in the Allocation Handbook.

 SPED program resource teachers are generated on CASAS based on the FTE generated from direct contact hours documented on PF4.  Consultation SPED teachers are generated on CASAS based on the students that have a “Y” documented on the PF17 screen  Classroom paras will be generated on CASAS based on the FTE generated from direct contact hours documented on PF4. ◦ Classroom paras are not generated on a 1 per classroom basis. ◦ Ratios will be in the allocation handbook when it is released.  CASAS will be generated based on what is in ISIS as of Friday, September 18, Since SPED EMS has a hour rollover window, SPED IEP changes need to be done by Wednesday, September 16,  Teacher allocation changes within the ASD and SLD programs are proposed and pending final approval. Information will be provided at your budget conference on any impact.  BMT, Program Specialist and SPED Clerical allocation information will be provided at the May Budget Conferences.
