ADVANCED SATELLITE INTERNET SERVICES VIA BROADBAND IN CASTILLA Y LEÓN REGION promoting universal access to broadband, reaching the least populated rural areas

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 2 The main goal of the interna-T initiative is to close the digital gap and move towards a broadband service in Castilla y León region that uses satellite technology for end user access, with sufficient specifications for the use of the new Internet-based services and a price that is not an insuperable hurdle for customers when considering signing up to the service. Area: 94,223 Km 2 Population: approx. 2.5 million Amount of towns/cities/villages: 5,800+ Villages with less than 100 inhabitants: 3,700+ Population over 50 years: approx. 40%

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 3 21% of Castilla y Leóns villages Potential customers (residential) : 16,692 (*) End: August 2012 Investment: up to 3 million interna-T has the technology and the capacity to provide a definitive and affordable solution for areas that suffer the consequences of the digital gap, considerably improving on traditional satellite connections. (*) Homes based on 2.5 people per family

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 4, a pioneering satellite broadband service from ___ __ and, devised for residential customers and SMEs and which is currently expanding in Spanish and European markets, was proposed by to the Castilla y León Regional Government as a satellite service for Castilla y León. Low cost Available in rural areas and contexts where there is no telecom offering or in places where carriers have no interest in offering a service A solution that takes weather changes into account and which quickly adapts to these changes in terms of coding and modulation

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 5 The Internet service is provided via coverage from the KA-SAT satellite, a high throughput satellite (HTS) which works entirely on KA band and covers the whole of Europe The initial service offers for individuals and businesses in Castilla y León is: Basic Service 6: 6Mbps/1Mbps (downlink/uplink); FAP: 4GBytes/month Advanced Service 10: 10Mbps/2Mbps (downlink/uplink); FAP: 13GBytes/moonth A modem (internal unit) with power supply A 77-cm satellite dish Up to 25 metres of cable Furthermore, the Interna-T initiative provides inhabitants with equipment and basic installation for free, thanks to funding from the Castilla y León Regional Government

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 6 Broadband for everyone no matter where they are; no need to rely on terrestrial networks A consistent service, compared to DSL - High-speed connectivity: up to 10 Mbps download / 4 Mbps upload Easy and simple to install Advanced technology within the satellite market Optimised for broadcasting A signal received simultaneously by an unlimited amount of users over a widespread area, covering at least a continent Optimised for IP applications Multiple spot-beam architecture, allowing for high frequencies to be re- used in order to generate a considerable increase in bandwidth

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 7 Image for the initiative Letter for distribution Radio campaign: From 27 December 2010 to 7 January 2011 TELECOR webpage Leaflet and posters Roadshow: From 8 August to 7 October 2011 (More than 6,700km and 170 villages) Press conferences

Getting to the places where other technologies cannot reach, working to establish a broadband service in Castilla y León region with satellite technology 8 With this new service, the goal of providing universal access to broadband in Castilla y León is achieved. In other words, all inhabitants - regardless of where they live - and their companies - regardless of where they are located - have access to high-speed Internet
